CIDB SJ: Piling and lateral support

What the SJ class covers, and what a grading like 6SJ lets you bid for.

What SJ means

SJ is a CIDB class of work meaning Piling and lateral support. Specialist foundation work: piling, lateral support, shoring and underpinning, usually on larger structures or difficult ground.

On a tender you will usually see the grade and class written together. A requirement of 6SJ means Grade 6 in the Piling and lateral support class. You are graded separately in each class you register for, so you can hold a high grade in one class and a low grade in another.
