Maintenance of Railway Track with On-Track Ballast Screening Machines – Transnet, 24 Months

The contractor shall provide maintenance services for railway track owned or maintained by Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager nationwide and in neighbouring countries, using on-track ballast low-production screening machines. The contract duration is twenty-four (24) months. The work encompasses all tracks within Transnet's railway network, which extend across varying topography — from deep cuttings to high embankments — in diverse security environments ranging from remote rural areas to densely populated metropolitan zones. The contract area includes fixed assets situated alongside the linear railway infrastructure, including bridges, platforms, culverts, and trackside components. The contractor must ensure that all works do not deform or damage existing structures. The contractor must be aware of underground services previously installed (oil, water, sewage conduits; electrical cables; and other structures). While as-built data will be provided to locate such services where available, caution must be exercised in areas where as-built records cannot be traced. The employer will supply baseline risk assessments identifying possibilities of service disruption during execution phases. The employer will provide maps and location information as required. The contract operates under CPM 2020 Rev03 conditions of contract, with core clause 11.2(2) defining affected property as property affected by or used by the contractor in providing the service.
