Read the full scope

The RFQ covers design, fabrication, installation and calibration of multichannel sound systems across four separate gallery exhibitions at Iziko Museums of Cape Town. The primary scope includes: (1) Pneuma installation—a 6.1-channel sound system with six active studio monitors (JBL Control 2) on 1.2m stands arranged in a hexagon around a 9.2m × 12.2m gallery containing sand (6.3m × 8.6m) and two wooden church pews, plus an active 11" subwoofer and BrightSign XT4 player via 7-channel Behringer audio interface; (2) dry-wall construction to specified dimensions (walls 2470–2670mm, 3500mm, 4500mm, 3200mm heights) compliant with SANS 10400 National Building Regulations; (3) speaker installation and positioning (exact quantities and models for other exhibitions not fully specified in extracted text); (4) full-day acoustic calibration and on-site mixing of discrete multichannel works to achieve intimate yet relatively loud looped soundscape playback with precise spatial balancing of mids, lows and highs for each room's specific reverberation; (5) verification of all site dimensions and existing services before fabrication; (6) coordination with architect, exhibition designers and consultants on any drawing discrepancies. Compulsory site visit and site verification of all dimensions mandatory before manufacturing or ordering components. All labour, materials, equipment and works necessary to complete and install are included. Work must comply with specified architectural drawings and conform to National Building Regulations.
