NRF seeks appointment of qualified electrical contractor for 3-year term providing repairs, maintenance, installations, testing, compliance and 24/7 emergency services to SAAO Sutherland Observatory; compulsory site briefing required, SANS 10142 compliance mandatory, Red Seal certified technicians with medium-voltage switching certification needed.

- • Compulsory site briefing attendance (failure to attend = automatic disqualification)
- • Company safety file submission before work initiation
- • 24/7 emergency call-out service capability (12-hour response time)
- • 48-hour response time for normal call-outs
- • Project team must consist of highly skilled, trade-tested technicians and electricians
- • Medium and Low voltage electrical service capability
- • Thermal imaging equipment capability
- • AutoCAD Electrical or Revit software for drawing production
- • Transformer oil sampling and testing capability
- • SF6 switchgear maintenance capability (11kV-22kV)
- • Occupational Health and Safety Act compliance
- • Personal Protective Equipment provision (hard hats, safety shoes, harnesses, high-visibility vests, safety glasses)
- • Full liability for damage to SAAO infrastructure and assets
- • Supply of all consumables (glands, lugs, ferrules, fasteners, shrouds, glue, adaptors, couplings)
- • Portable back-up generators for work execution
- • Cable and pipe detection equipment
