CIDB Grade 2EB/2EP+ Electrical Contractors Prequalification Database — Eastern Cape Education (3 years)

The Eastern Cape Department of Education is establishing a three-year prequalified contractor database for electrical engineering works on education facilities across the province. Contractors must hold active CIDB Grade 2EB/2EP or higher registration and will be evaluated on compliance and functionality. Accepted contractors will be placed into sub-databases by CIDB grade (2EB/EP through 9EB/EP) and invited to tender as specific projects arise. Work scope includes electrical engineering for buildings and infrastructure, including emergency procurement. Contractors must demonstrate relevant project experience (one to three similar projects completed within three years at their CIDB grading value), provide references, submit proof of key personnel expertise (Contracts Manager), and demonstrate Eastern Cape locality. A valid Electrical Trade Test Certificate and wireman's license are mandatory. No joint ventures are permitted. The prequalification process does not commit the Department to appoint any contractor; selection from the database follows departmental Supply Chain Management policy. Shortlisted contractors must maintain active CIDB status and be ready to respond urgently to service requests with resources and planning ready. The database term is limited to three years, and contractors must provide updated information on offices, capacity, and resources as required.
